Under the Sea: The Best Dive Spots in the World

by Megan M |

Sebastian from The Little Mermaid said it best when he sang "Darling it's better, down where it's wetter, under the sea". Who wouldn't want to explore the world under the waves? There are so many corners of the sea that have never been explored and so much wildlife that would be more than happy to share their home and come investigate what you are doing. We are going to go over some of the best diving spots in the world to give you some underwater inspiration for your next wanderlust endeavor.

Yucatan Peninsula - The prime time to explore this amazing Mexican underwater paradise is within the months of June to September when the whale sharks are migrating. You may have seen the amazing pictures on social media of people swimming with these gentle giants, now you can have your chance to get up close and personal with these incredible beings.

Cabo Pulmo - If you love to sleep in but still want to get an amazing dive in, then this is the place for you. With some of the healthiest coral reef and just mere yards from the shore, it means that you can wake up late and still bask in the glory of the endless population of stingrays, eels, angelfish, parrotfish, octopuses and the occasional turtle.

Darwin's Arch -  If you are a large animal lover then this is going to be your oasis. There are no reefs but there is a healthy population of whale sharks, so many turtles you won't know what to do, Galapagos and Tiger sharks along with free-swimming moray eels and eagle rays. You won't want to pass up the chance to swim with schooling hammerhead sharks either; it's an opportunity that people jump at.

Tiger Beach - This is unlike any dive you will ever take, it's in the middle of nowhere and there isn't any beach. The stars of this dive are the 12-14 feet long tiger sharks that will come out slowly to play once the bait-box is presented. Along with hyperactive lemon sharks, you will think you died and went to heaven.

Remember to always respect the animals because you are in their playing field and they won't feel bad about acting out if you give them a reason to, if you are courteous to them you will be sure to make some new friends and experiences you will never forget.
