Summer Grocery Shopping list

by Megan M |

The summer isn't just about going places and making memories, summer is also about staying at home, firing up the bbq, cooking and making memories. Some of the best times you can have are around the dinner table with people you care about. Some of the best foods can be found and made into the most incredible meals during the summer months. If you are looking for meals to plan this summer but have no idea where to start, look no further. Think of this article as your next grocery shopping list.

Melons - One of the best things to eat during summer is the variety of melons that are in season like watermelon, cantaloupe, and honeydew. Not only can you eat them raw, but you can throw them into salads, smoothies, milkshakes and even salsa if you want a refreshing and tasty treat.

Salad Leaves - Basil and Amaranth leaves are a great addition to any salad you make this summer. Try them with a yogurt dressing; you will be surprised how delicious the combination is. Adding these leaves to your meals will add not only a powerhouse combo to your diet, but also help you get the nutrition you need if you are looking to lose weight as well.

Mint Water - If you are looking for a refreshing way to make sure that you are getting all of the H2O you need to stay fully hydrated this summer, try throwing in some mint leaves and a bit of lemon or lime to a big glass of water. This concoction is a good way to cleanse your liver, along with boosting your appetite and keeping your metabolism in check.

Bottle Gourd - This sounds so random, but this veggie is actually great when it comes to purifying your blood and keeping your blood pressure healthy. Bottle Gourd is packed with calcium, Vitamins A, C, and Folate and keeps your heart healthy.

Eating foods that are in season is the most beneficial thing you can do for your body and your health. In season fruits and vegetables are packed with flavor and are packed to the brim with vitamins, minerals and other essential nutrients you need to keep yourself in great shape during the dog days of summer.
